EASTERN ANATOLIA TOUR BEGINNING FROM VAN WITH FLIGHT General Information About

1. Day: ANTALYA-VAN

We meet at Antalya Airport domestic flights at 06:35 in the morning and fly to Van with the 08:35 plane of SunExpress Airlines. We meet with our vehicle waiting for us in Van and we start our program with breakfast. The primary feature of the Van breakfast table is that the food consists of completely natural products. Van breakfast consists of genuine Van honey, yogurt cream, milk cream, butter, tzatziki, herbed cheese, knitted cheese, feta cheese, scrambled eggs, olives, murtuğa, kavut, and gencir. After having our Van-specific breakfast, we take a pleasant boat ride to Akdamar (the boat fee is extra). We visit the Akdamar Holy Cross Church, which is located on Akdamar Island and is famous for its stonework and reliefs, and then we take a tour on the island. After returning from the island, we visit the Seljuk Cemetery and Halime Hatun Cupola on our way. We take a panoramic tour of the city of Van, accompanied by the insatiable beauty of Lake Van. When we reach the old Van, we first go to the cat house where we can see the Van cats. (Extra) We visit the Urartian silver house, which is located right next to the cat house, combining Urartian idols with the granule and niello technique, and get information about how this art is performed. Then, after seeing the Van Castle, the Urartian King Tombs, and the Urartian ruins, and watching the insatiable beauty of Lake Van, we see the historical Van houses at the foot of the Van Castle and the Ulu Mosque and Hüsrev Pasha Mosques at the old city of Van and move on to our hotel for accommodation and dinner.

2. Day: MURADİYE WATERFALL-İSHAKPAŞA PALACE-TUZLUCA SALT CAVE-KARS

We have our breakfast at the hotel in the morning, then we go to Muradiye Waterfall. After the free time we will have at the magnificent Muradiye Waterfall on the Bend-i Mahi Stream fed by Tendürek Mountain, 8 km from Doğubeyazıt, on a hill overlooking the plain, the Turkish architectural works of 99 years, which came out of the world of fairy tales and fascinated those who see it with all its splendor, will be visited. We are visiting İshak Pasha Palace, one of the most important UNESCO World Heritage candidates. İshak Pasha Palace was built in 1784 by Çıldıroğulları II. It was built during the reign of Ishak Pasha and is considered to be the only palace structure of Ottoman architecture that has survived to the present day in Anatolia. The palace has 366 rooms with its mosque, divan room, oven, kitchen, and baths. The motifs on the doors are a masterpiece of art. Ishak Pasha Palace, the place where the epic love between Gülbahar and Ahmed, who could not reunite, took place in Yaşar Kemal's book "The Legend of Mount Ararat", took its place in the corner. Afterward, we go to the Salt Therapy Center located next to the Salt Caves, where the rock salt layers found in the cave, which has the capacity to meet the salt need of our country for 100 years, and the air in the tunnels is known to be good for many respiratory diseases, has been used since the Hittite period 24-37 million years ago. Accompanied by the narrations of our guide, we complete our tour and get into our vehicle to go to Kars and settle into our hotel. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Kars.

3. Day: ANİ RUINS - ÇILDIR LAKE

We have our breakfast at our hotel, then we move to Ani Ruins. We are visiting the Cathedral, Surp Kirkor and Surp Pirgiç (Keveli Church) Churches, Menucehr Mosque, and Caravan Palace in the city, which is famous for its monumental structures belonging to Armenian and Seljuk cultures, located at the bottom of Arpaçay, which draws our border with Armenia. We are moving to Çıldır Lake. On our way, we see the villages of Malakan and Yalınçay, which are famous for their cheese, panoramically. At this surreal-looking stop, after photographing people sledding, playing javelin, phaeton riding, horseback riding, and fishing on the frozen surface of Lake Çıldır at an altitude of about 2000 meters, you can take the sleds and take part in the magnificent view. After visiting Kars Castle, Stone Bridge, Kars Museum, and Alexander Nevski Church (Fethiye Mosque) with our guide, we will walk through the wide and planned streets of Kars, and we will visit the Governor's Mansion, PTT Building, Orthodox Church (Central Mosque), Iron Bridge, among the stone structures of the Russian period. After seeing and photographing the Doctor's House (Opera building) panoramically, we return to our hotel for dinner. Caucasian Night is optional and extra.

4. Day: KARS - SARIKAMIŞ - ERZURUM

We have our breakfast at our hotel then we see Kars Castle, Beylerbeyi Palace, Church of the Twelve Apostles (Kümbet Mosque), Ottoman Bridge and Bath, Russian period stone structures (Register Office, Health Directorate, Municipality), and then Sarıkamış Martyrs' Cemetery, which was built in memory of our soldiers who were martyred on the skirts of Allahu Akbar Mountains. After visiting the monument, we are going to Erzurum. In Erzurum, we visit the Ulu Mosque, the Double Minaret Madrasa, and the 23 July Congress building, where the Erzurum Congress was held on 23 July 1919, and then we move on to Taş Han, where Oltu Stone is produced and marketed. After the free time we will give here, we visit Erzurum - Turkish-Islamic Artifacts and Ethnography Museum (Yakutiye Madrasah).

5. Day: ERZURUM-GİRLEVİK WATERFALL-MUNZUR RIVER-OVACIK-TUNCELİ

We leave our hotel early in the morning to take a photo break at Girlevik Waterfall, then we move to the exit point of Halvori water; we photograph Halbori Springs, located in a deep and rocky valley. After having our lunch in Ovacık, we set out for Munzur Caves, which is famous for its waters flowing from the rock cavities, large and small waterfalls, and ponds, which form the main source of Munzur Stream, which is about 15 km away from Ovacık district center. After this visual feast, we move on to Tunceli. Accommodation and dinner at our hotel.

6. Day: TUNCELİ- MUNZUR NATIONAL PARK- PERTEK- HARPUT -ELAZIĞ

We have our breakfast at the hotel in the morning, then we will reach the Munzur Valley National Park, which is located within the Tunceli borders of the Eastern Anatolia Region. Munzur Valley, one of the biggest National Parks of Turkey, is very rich in terms of endemic plant species and animal species. In the valley, we first go to the Ana Fatma pilgrimage site, which is one of the most important visiting points of the region. After the free time we will have here, we go to the Pertek Ferry Pier to pass the Keban Dam Lake, which was built between 1965-1975 on the Euphrates River. Then we reach Harput, which was captured by the Turks in 1085. After visiting the Ulu Mosque, which was built during the Artuqid period, and the Harput Castle, which was founded by the Urartu Kingdom in the 8th century BC, because of the water shortage, milk was used instead of water in its construction, so-called “Milk Castle”, this historical center of the city was first established for many years. We see the Harput mansions on the ground in a panoramic view and go to Elazig, which was named “El'Azik” by Atatürk in 1937, which means granary, abundance, and fertility. We visit the Grand Bazaar in the city center, taste the local products, and then go to our hotel. Accommodation and dinner at our hotel.

7. Day: ELAZIĞ-BİNGÖL-YÜZEN ISLAND-AHLAT-TATVAN-BİTLİS

We have our breakfast at the hotel, then we go to our vehicle to watch the visual feast 4.5 kilometers away on the Bingöl Solhan highway. After our visit to the "Floating Islands", which is a completely natural formation surrounded by mountains and hills on three sides, we visit Ahlat, the first big Turkish city of Anatolia. It is a huge open space filled with the ruins of castles, mosques, bridges, Seljuk cemetery, baths, and zawiyas from past civilizations, especially the Seljuks, called the “Dome of Islam” by the Seljuks, the “City of Ancestors” by the Ottomans, and the “City of the Oghuz Taife” by Evliya Çelebi. In Ahlat, an open-air museum, we watch the blue of Lake Van on the one hand and photograph the summit of Süphan, Turkey's third largest mountain, on the other. We are visiting the cane shops where the world-famous Ahlat canes are made and we move to Tatvan. In Tatvan, we visit the El-Aman Caravanserai and Abdulcelil Behrani tombs and give free time on the beach. Then we move to Bitlis. We go to our hotel for dinner and accommodation.

8. Day: BİTLİS-DİYARBAKIR-ANTALYA

We have our breakfast at the hotel in the morning, then we meet with our vehicle to visit the İhlasiye Complex, which was built by the Seljuks in 1216 in Bitlis, which is known as the city with Five Minarets and was founded by Badlis, one of the commanders of Alexander the Great, on the order of Alexander, according to the legend, and we go to Diyarbakır. We see the Diyarbakır Walls, which are the best preserved not only in our country but also in the world and are on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The city walls defy the centuries, the Byzantine Emperor II, the son of Constantine, rebuilt İstanbul as the capital of Rome. It was renovated by Constantius (349 AD) and reached today. Later, one of the oldest mosques in Anatolia, Ulu Mosque and Complex, Hasan Pasha Inn, was built by Hasan Pasha, who was the governor of Diyarbakir between 1572-1575, Hz. We see the Süleyman Mosque, Sülüklü Inn and visit the Four-Legged Minaret, which belongs to the Sheikh Mutahhar Mosque, built by Kasım Bey, the Akkoyunlu ruler. Then, after seeing the Keçiburcu Hevsel Gardens, we move to Diyarbakır Airport and start our return journey to Antalya with the SunExpress plane at 20:20.
